OK, I lied. I didn't get anything written in time for Christmas. Maybe I will send people a New Years message. . . .

In late December it is customary to look back on the previous year and reflect on life's subtle little changes. As I thought back over the past 12 months, I realized that life has failed to alter my reality to subtle ways. In 2007 life used a large hickory baseball bat to get my attention.

1st Post

Welcome to my wacky little spot of turf on the Internet. I will of course write about things that interest me. Here's a quick sampling of what will probably appear on this blog:

• Open Source Software - Especially how it can be used in social sciences research and in human services organizations.
• Politics - With the '08 elections in full swing, this will probably pop up now and again.
• Climbing - Pictures of my adventures in the mountains.
• Anything else that comes to mind. After-all, if you are reading this you obviously want to know what brand of soap I use and how often I shave. . . . right?

My next post will probably be my very first Christmas edition. Instead of sending letters to everyone I know, I think I will write a long-winded letter to my friends and family as a blog entry and then send everyone the URL. I'm too lazy to get this done 2 weeks in advance.

Suggestions for a theme are welcome.
